About Hotshot Insure
Hotshot Insure explains the insurance rules for hotshot trucking, where a pickup pulls a gooseneck or flatbed trailer for pay, and passes your request to an agency that writes truck policies. We do not sell insurance: that agency quotes you, and it pays us for the request.
Hotshot Insure explained
Prairie Transport Underwriters LLC runs Hotshot Insure as a service. Owner-operators running small fleets, hotshot rigs, or box trucks get one answer here: the filings, cargo cover, and liability limit a truck setup needs, plus the rough monthly cost.
This service doesn't quote insurance, and we do not sell it. Your truck is quoted by an insurance agent. An agency handling commercial truck insurance receives your request after you call the number shown on the site or send your details.
How a request works
- You check your setup with the four questions on the home page, or read the rules for your truck or state.
- You call +1 866 403 5064 or send your details. Either way, it goes to one licensed agency that writes truck insurance, not to a list of companies.
- An agent there asks how you run, your truck and trailer, what you haul and your state, then prices it with the insurers the agency works with.
- When the agent contacts you, ask for the agency name and the agent’s license number. You can check any license with your state insurance department.
- Getting a quote costs you nothing, and you do not have to buy.
Despite the word Underwriters in its name, Prairie Transport Underwriters LLC is not an insurer and does not write policies.
Sources for the numbers
For federal limits, the sources are 49 CFR Part 387, as posted on eCFR, and FMCSA registration pages. Each broker’s own carrier pages are the source for broker and platform limits. Every state page links to the state agency or statute behind that state's rules.
Each cost figure is a published average, with the insurer or marketplace that released it named right beside it. Your record, the truck, and the radius shape your own price; so does the time your authority has stayed active.
- Federal minimums: 49 CFR 387.9 and 49 CFR 387.303.
- Filings: FMCSA's BOC-3, BMC-91X and MCS-90 forms.
- Broker limits: the carrier pages of TQL, Amazon Relay, J.B. Hunt, C.H. Robinson and Uber Freight.
- Cost figures: Insureon and Progressive Commercial.
- State rules: the state agency or statute listed on each state page.

If you call or share your details
When you call the phone number on the site, the call may be recorded so your authority and truck details are taken down right. Once your call or request arrives, that agency determines if it can assist and what it can quote.
The agencies that get these requests pay Hotshot Insure. This never changes the limits or filings on a page; the rules themselves set them.
